What happens when two legendary powerhouses bands share a marqee, touring the nation fusing kindred jazz spirits? Magic. The Windy City’s United Center, home to the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, was ablaze by the elements, Earth, Wind and Fire and horn based rock and of the 60s, Chicago, namesake of their origination.

A jam packed arena swayed, clapped and cheered during each band’s separate sets and musical collaborations, where the two bands flooded the stage with force and grace on their 2016 Heart and Soul 2.0 tour.
Over 20 members deep combined, the stage welcomed the living legends, who performed big band sounds to jazz to smooth grooves, including fan favorite “September,” “That’s the Way of the World,” and Chicago’s “You’re the Inspiration.”

Earth, Wind and Fire, dressed in matching black and gold, showcasing their personalities as one of soul’s must-see acts, was overflowing with energy, performing classic hits and old fashioned feel good music. Philip Bailey, who was joined on stage by his son, hit high notes for sport, resulting in applause and standing ovations from the crowd.

Percussionist Verdine White shined in all his musical glory, as a ball of pure adrenaline and gas-lit fire, swinging hair and taking names on every track.
Standing in formation, with a dark stage, pictures splattered on HD screens and “Serpentine Fire” blasting, EWF took a moment of silence for group founder and mentor Maurice White, who lost his battle to Parkison’s disease at 74.
Chicago’s solo set followed, performing “Beginnings” and “Hard Habit to Break,” amongst other hits.

A musical celebration of power and rock-n-roll, hits of yesteryear was celebrated and adored by a crowd of varying ages, colors and creeds.

The evening showcase was on musical steroids, with a larger than life production. The Live Nation promoted concert satisfied music lovers pallette in every way, perfectly blending two critically acclaimed bands.
An evening of satisfaction, the two bands co-existed perfectly; a swirl of musical genius and undeniable respect and comradery between the two.

With three hours of musical pleasure, the Heart and Soul Tour 2.0 proves two bands are indeed better than one.
