Meek Mill's "Amen" may be one of the standout songs of his career but a Philadelphia pastor is calling for a boycott of the rapper, who is incidentally from Philadelphia, over the number's use of religious language and music. Philly.com reports that Rev. Jomo K. Johnson finds the song, which also features Drake, blasphemous with its sexual overtones and lyrics like ""Now it's a lot of bad b------ in the building (Amen)" "I'm a hip-hop fan. But I believe there is a need to really call him out and say enough is enough," said Johnson to the news outlet. "He [Meek] seems to really be using the church as a backdrop and a parallel for some of the sinful things that he does." Johnson first called for a boycott of Meek on his blog, Deadestrapperalive.com and he has also self-published a book on the subject called "No Amen: Why Boycotting Meek Mill Will Help Save Hip Hop." Johnson has also written a similar book about Lil' Wayne. "Amen" appeared on Meek's buzzy Dreamchasers 2 mixtape earlier this summer. At the time, MTV News dubbed the track a radio hit: "It's a safe bet that "Amen" featuring Drake and Jeremih will become a radio mainstay at least until August 28, when he drops his debut album, Dreams and Nightmares."
